When the 3DS received a massive price drop back in August, early adopters like myself were appeased by offering 10 free NES games and 10 free Game Boy Advance games. We got the NES games back in September, and the Game Boy Advance games have just become available this week.

The games are downloaded the same way the NES games were. Go into the eShop into your account settings. It will appear as if you’ve already purchased the games, so all you have to do is “re-download” them. Protip: choose “Download Later” for each of the games. This will allow the 3DS to install them all when you put the 3DS into sleep mode instead of waiting for each individual game one after the other. This process is much quicker.

The 10 free games were a mystery to us. We knew about five of them:

  • Metroid Fusion
  • Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong
  • WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgame$
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit

The five mystery games are as follows:

  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
  • Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
  • Wario Land 4

I have to say, I’m impressed. The only thing we’re missing from such a great GBA line-up is probably Pokemon.

Keep in mind, it’s been confirmed that these games will only ever be available for 3DS Ambassadors. Nintendo announced with the program that the NES games will be made for sale for everyone else on 3DS, but Game Boy Advance games will not.

What say you, gamers? What do you think of this selection of games?
