Mortal Kombat fans have been excited about the series’ newest installment, Mortal Kombat X, since its trailer was revealed in early June. With its 2015 release date still on the horizon, fans are hungry for any new information regarding the game, which is expected to be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Similar to the classic Mortal Kombat games, the newest incarnation will feature one-on-one fighting with trademark “fatalities,” the fun-to-play finishing moves inflicted upon an opponent about to be defeated. Mortal Kombat X will also feature some upgrades to the series’ traditional features, such as interacting with the environment to bounce off areas or obtain weapons.

As is proper for a Mortal Kombat reboot, many familiar faces are returning. Old favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kenshi are back, and during EVO 2014, Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm Studios announced the return of Raiden, who will have three different fighting styles to offer: Displacer style, which is teleportation-heavy; Storm Lord style, which enables Raiden to throw lightning bombs; and Thunder God Raiden, which emphasizes combos and combo finishers. Although Raiden’s return was already expected by many fans, his confirmation comes as a delight to many.

As far as 2015 game releases go, Mortal Kombat X is among the most hotly anticipated, and we’ll be sure to bring you more updates on it as they arise.
