After Red Dead Redemption 2, fans are eager to find out what’s next from Rockstar Games. While we can guarantee that Grand Theft Auto 6 is being worked on, we’ve heard persistent rumors that development on Bully 2 is also ongoing. Due to the developer’s secretive nature, we don’t have much to go on about either of these games, but there are some indications that they may be getting ready to announce something officially, and soon.
Now, this indication is admittedly fairly minor, but there’s an outside chance it could mean that big news is coming. You see, Rockstar North headquarters in Edinburgh have featured their next big game on a banner outside their building for the last few years. For a long time, the HQ advertised Grand Theft Auto V. That banner was then removed to make way for a Red Dead Redemption 2 banner and now, that’s been removed, and in its place will soon be whatever their next title is.
While I wouldn’t expect Rockstar to reveal their newest game via a banner on the front of their headquarters, this could very well be an indication that they’re getting ready to announce what it’ll be. In any case, at this point in the current console generation, it’s unlikely they’d restrict the scope of Grand Theft Auto 6 to the tech specs of the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. On top of that, the Playstation 5 and Scorpio are still at minimum a year away from release, so they may try to squeak Bully 2 onto this generation (possibly as a cross-generational release in 2020).
If Bully 2 were to be announced, gamers would greet it extremely fondly. The original is still very well thought of, taking Rockstar’s trademark open-world design to some interesting new places, as well as having a very idiosyncratic and likeable sense of humor.
After all that though, it’d be a huge anticlimax if the replacement banner was for another Grand Theft Auto Online expansion. But I suppose we’ll just have to wait and find out. In the meantime, I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on Rockstar HQ.
