Fans of the trifecta of protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V will soon have something to look forward to, as Rockstar Games has announced that new single-player DLC will be released for the game sometime next year.

Rockstar revealed their plans for GTA V today as part of a larger blog post detailing the upcoming gameplay modes and beta content creator for Grand Theft Auto Online. The single-player DLC teaser blurb at the bottom of the post reads in part:

“For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor’s action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.”

While I am definitely more excited for Grand Theft Auto V downloadable content that is not part of GTA Online (which I have yet to feel any desire to even try out), I would be lying if I said that I am interested in getting back into the game again. Even though I managed to stick around in San Andreas long enough to wrap up the main story (which was a first for me with this franchise), the last quarter of that game felt more like a chore than anything else.

Of course, I will reserve final judgement for whenever Rockstar Games announces their exact plans for single-player Grand Theft Auto V DLC. There is always the possibility that whatever they are planning will knock my socks off, and if it does I will probably be the first to jump back on the hype bandwagon.
