Roll7, the studio behind indie sleeper hit OlliOlli and its acclaimed sequel, has today locked down a release for the PS4 version of Not a Hero, the gleefully violent 2D shooter that first graced PC platforms in May of last year.

It’s now to smash its way onto Sony’s flagship console come February 2, though the same can’t be said about the much-requested PlayStation Vita port. Taking to its official blog, the developer noted that the Vita version has been canned, citing that  “making games work [on PlayStation Vita] is incredibly hard.”

Embodying the gleefully arrogant and delusional BunnyLord – an anthropomorphic rabbit in the game with an insatiable taste for violence – the developer explained the port’s cancellation with a wink and a nudge.

“In the end, we tried simply copying the whole game onto a 3.5″ floppy disk and jamming it into the back of the Vita, but this caused dangerous overheating and one of our test kits exploded, killing the entire Not a Hero Vita Programming team in a fully upsetting and totally avoidable fireball of nasty burning. Initially, we thought it was baddies what had done it, but it turned out to just be our team’s own fantastic ineptitude. It was at this juncture our lawyers advised us to abandon the port and come up with an elaborate excuse for its cancellation.”

PlayStation 4 owners can look forward to Roll7’s shoot-’em-up Not a Hero launching for PS4 on February 2.
