A new picture of the rumored PlayStation 4 controller — which happens to bear more than a passing resemblance to the pad featured in yesterday’s rumored PS4 controller photo — found its way to the Internet today, giving us a better look at the mystery controller.

This new image clearly shows the same front touch pad, button layout, speaker, larger handles, and ridged analog sticks on the DualShock-like controller, however, the different angle also highlights two features that were not easily seen in the first photo. The controller has an audio jack located on the side below the PS button (similar to the location of the Xbox 360’s audio jack), and there appears to be two rectangle-shaped buttons flanking either side of the touch pad. Both of these buttons are unlabeled, however, we are speculating that they are nothing more than the controller’s “Select” and “Start” buttons.

The new picture of the rumored PlayStation 4 controller appears to have come from a GamesTrailer forum user named “SquishyMuffin”, who claims to have taken the photo. There is no information to back this up, so take it with a grain of salt.

In addition to this new image, IGN is reporting that their sources have confirmed that yesterday’s photo is legitimate. However, they are claiming that it is a prototype and not the final version of PlayStation 4 controller.

IGN also reported that their source confirmed the following information; the bar on the top of the controller is in fact a PlayStation Move sensor (as we speculated yesterday), the middle touch pad can also be “pressed like a button”, and the L2 and R2 buttons are “more in line” with the Xbox 360’s spring-loaded triggers.

Considering that we now have two pictures of this PlayStation 4 controller, it is tempting to believe that it is legitimate. With that said, the safe bet is to consider this a rumor and wait until Sony announces the next generation console. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like we will have long to wait for that official confirmation.
