If you’ve been unable to brave Resident Evil 2‘s Gothic recreation of Raccoon City for fear of running into Mr. X, then we don’t blame you. As it turns out, the indomitable Tyrant stalking Leon and Claire throughout the game has a knack for instilling an overwhelming sense of dread into even the toughest fans. But it seems that the super popular villain may have finally met his match.
Seen in the video down below, a brilliant new Resident Evil 2 mod has brought Shaggy from Scooby-Doo into the game, showing us what would happen if the beloved character were to take on the relentless Mr. X. Quite frankly, it’s one of the most amusing and fun mods we’ve seen yet for the remake and should be a nice consolation prize for those who’ve been holding out hope that Shaggy might appear in Mortal Kombat 11.

A terrific return to survival horror that fans have been waiting for, Resident Evil 2 has found much success since its launch earlier this year, with Mr. X in particular becoming its standout star. A number of internet memes and mods paying homage to the character’s scare factor and unpredictability have been flooding the internet, leading to Capcom voicing their surprise at the Tyrant’s popularity, saying in a recent interview that they never saw this coming. And neither did we.
It’s been a pretty good Q1 for the developer, too, as they’re currently basking in the overwhelmingly positive reviews for Devil May Cry 5, another extremely polished and refined release from Capcom. But as for Resident Evil 2, can its success pave the way for a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis? Perhaps, as the Japanese gaming giant certainly seems open to it, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see what they bring us next.
