Sony’s Scott Rohde has spoken today about the company’s commitment to producing high quality free-to-play games, such as Guns Up!, which was released for the PS4 earlier this month. Talking to Kinda Funny Games, Rohde spoke about his determination for Sony’s free-to-play games to be exciting and worthwhile, making players feel “empowered” when they stick with them:

We are trying very, very hard to make a free-to-play game that makes you feel empowered as a gamer and not something that has gates. Not something where you say, ‘Oh my god, I could have played this game, but you’re just gating me.’ It’s not there. If you want to grind and play these games forever without spending a dollar, you can do it.

Sony’s Guns Up! is a military strategy game that’s available for the PS4 right now, while future titles in the free-to-play schedule include Kill Strain and Drawn To Death.
