SEGA Announces NiGHTS Into Dreams HD

Earlier this week, SEGA teased its fans by revealing a screenshot from one of its unannounced upcoming titles. Gamers managed to make some educated guesses as to what the surprise might be with all evidence pointing toward a NiGHTS title. Well, it seems those guesses were spot on as SEGA officially announced NiGHTS into Dreams HD earlier today.

A high-definition update to the original SEGA Saturn game, it will be released onto Xbox LIVE Arcade, the PlayStation Network and PC this autumn.

Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA said;

“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams stands out as one of the most recognisable titles that found a home on the system. We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this autumn.”

The game will, as the title suggests, feature improved HD visuals as well as a 16:9 aspect ratio, leaderboards, trophies and achievements. Interestingly there’s even an option titled “Saturn Mode,” which will display the original graphics as they were on that device.

NiGHTS into Dreams is still regarded as one of SEGA‘s best titles, and having not had the chance to try it myself, I look forward to finally getting a chance to see what made this game so special.
