DrinkBox Studios, the indie developer behind Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack and last year’s Guacamelee, has announced its newest title, Severed. Along with the announcement came a trailer, and if what we see here is indicative of the final product, this is going to be a very slick-looking game.

For more information, check out the following blurb, which was taken from the game’s press release:

Severed follows the saga of a distraught warrior, who is lost in a fantastical world, as she knits together pieces of her story from both the past and the future. As the heroine, players will embark on a journey through a surreal, nonlinear world by using a gesture-based combat mechanic to defeat enemies in this first-person adventure. During their journey, players will unlock new abilities, discover secrets of the land, and grow in power as they master both offensive and defensive techniques.

The trailer showcases the motion-based first-person combat and what’s shown looks quite appealing. At the moment, it’s unclear exactly which platforms Severed will be coming to upon its release in the spring of 2015, but systems with touch screens, including the Wii U, 3DS, and PS Vita, certainly seem like a possibility.

Regardless of where the game ends up, what we know sounds intriguing, and given the developer’s pedigree, there are many reasons to be excited for this title.

We will keep you updated on more news regarding Severed as it becomes available. For now though, check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
