Skulls of the Shogun is the highly-anticipated, accessible, asynchronous turn-based strategy game in development by 17-BIT. It has gathered many promises of day one purchases through its impressive demonstrations at various events, but exactly when that day will be has so far been incredibly speculative. Whilst still far from a confirmed date, the developers have now stated their intention to release alongside Windows 8 on October 26.
Due to launch on XBLA, Windows Phone 7, Windows 8 and Surface simultaneously (within the same week), Skulls of the Shogun releasing alongside the new version of Windows, which boasts gaming integration as one of its main features, makes a lot of sense. However, the announcement did come with the following get-out clause by 17-BIT‘s Jake Kazdal:
“We’re certainly shooting for day one release with Win 8, and it looks very likely, but nothing is set in stone yet.”
With the amount of anticipation behind the project, I fear that skulls may roll should the developer fail to deliver on this date. Still, Skulls of the Shogun has taken its turn and now it is time for ours – It’s just somewhat unfortunate that the only strategy available to us is to just sit here and wait.
Feel free to wait with us here at We Got This Covered, we will be sure to keep you informed on all things Skulls of the Shogun.
