What’s more interesting, though, is that the release — initially billed as the “world’s first interactive teaser” — is in fact a trailer for the next instalment in the Silent Hill franchise, which is to be overseen by none other than Konami’s Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro.

Thankfully, the mystery was unravelled by Twitch streamer SoapyWarPig, who managed to spot the two aforementioned talents in the credits of the P.T. (Playable Teaser). Moreover, a character appears on screen shortly after Kojima and del Toro’s names fade — played by Walking Dead badass Norman Reedus — followed by the Silent Hill name; in fact, the project is currently labelled as Silent Hills.

At first, many suspected that P.T. was designed as a new independent horror title in the vein of Outlast. Alas, it seems as though Kojima — ever the fan of cloak and dagger reveals — has trolled us all once more. Not only has P.T. been built to solely serve as an indirect reveal for a new Silent Hill, the experimental project was advertised under 7780s Studios — a fictitious company much like Moby Dick Studios from The Phantom Pain unveiling.

As you can expect, details are scarce regarding this atypical announcement for the next Silent Hill, and it’s unclear how much of a role del Toro will play in the development. Either way, we’ll be sure to keep you posted as more information appears.
