Just a couple days ago EA has announced the newest title in the Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed: The Run. The Run, EA says is going to bring action racing to new heights, both graphically and with its new concept and gameplay.

EA Executive Producer Jason DeLong says, “this is the year that Need for Speed goes to the next level, We think that Need for Speed: The Run is going to surprise people with its intense, thrilling story and big action feel.”

The game’s official description depicts this newest title being an illegal cross country race, that will take you from the Golden Gate Bridge, all the way to the Empire State Building. Along the way you’ll have to weave through urban traffic, race down icy mountain passes, and even drive through canyons at break neck speeds. The Run is also boast an intense gripping storyline, according to EA.

The game will be powered by DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, allowing it to sport enhanced physics, and over the top graphics. Its release date is currently set for November 15th of this year. It will be available on all the modern gaming consoles, the Nintendo DS, and PC.

In my opinion Shift 2 has set the bar pretty high, we’ll see what EA has done to compete. The teaser looked fairly interesting, although I didn’t understand why mountains were exploding, I’ll leave it below for you guys to check out.
