Square Enix To Reveal Unannounced Wii U Game At PAX East

According to Gamezone, Square Enix has sent out media invites for the unveiling of an unannounced Wii U game at this year's PAX East (March 22nd though March 24th) in Boston, Massachusetts. The invites provide no hints as to what the publisher has to show off for Nintendo's console, however, we know that it is most likely not related to Square Enix's other announced titles that will be at the event -- Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX and Heroes & Generals.

According to Gamezone, Square Enix has sent out media invites for the unveiling of an unannounced Wii U game at this year’s PAX East (March 22nd though March 24th) in Boston, Massachusetts. With no hints and nothing official to go on, we are left only to delve into the realm of wild speculation when it comes to Square Enix’s unannounced Wii U game. Thankfully, there is no shortage of past rumors and unconfirmed reports that suggest what the publisher has on the drawing board for Nintendo’s HD console.

The most credible of these unconfirmed reports comes from the Straight Right’s technical project manager, Chris Slater. Last October Slater kindly mentioned on his resume that he was “working for Straight Right on a short term contract, porting a triple-A Square Enix game to the yet-to-be-released Wii U platform.” The blurb was removed shortly after it was discovered, but lived on thanks to Google’s cache.

Fast forward to March 1, 2013, and we have a re-rating from the Australian Classification Board for a “modified” version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Considering Straight Right is based in Australia, it stands to reason that Square Enix might just be showing off a Wii U version of Human Revolution later this month.

Aside from a possible Human Revolution Wii U port, it is also reasonable to suggest that the announcement might have something to do with Square Enix’s recent Dues Ex: The Fall trademark. Additionally, it could also be a port of one of their other popular IPs — like Hitman: Absolution or Tomb Raider — or there is the off chance that it is something new.

We will be on the lookout for whatever Square Enix has planned for the Wii U at PAX East, and let you know as soon as an official announcement is made.
