As part of EA’s ongoing community update series for Star Wars Battlefront, the mega-publisher announced that shooter’s forthcoming beta will be open to all users.
Slated to go live in October, the vertical slice will contain “both offline and online modes including co-op and split-screen co-op,” with featured maps including the bombastic Walker Assault – the Hoth mission that has occupied a fair share of the game’s marketing – along with the new-fangled Drop Zone mode on Sullust.
Making the announcement was Community Manager Mathew Everett, who asked budding participants for patience while EA and DICE nail down an official star date for the Star Wars Battlefront beta. In the meantime, here’s what Everett had to say on the game’s official blog.
Now that we have officially announced the beta, most of you are just itching to know how you can get in. Well, we’re excited to say that the beta is open to everyone! Get ready for the beta release date and also make sure your system is ready to download the beta the moment it goes live. Keep your eyes peeled for myself and many other developers during the live beta as we have some cool stuff planned.
In addition, Everett noted that the competitive multiplayer segment of the shooter will indeed include AI opponents – ten on each side, to be exact – all the while hinting that there will information aplenty about weapons, vehicles, fighter jets and more released in the coming weeks.
The latest post to grace the Battlefront blog is littered with new details about the upcoming release, so if you’re interested in learning a little bit more about DICE’s high-profile licensed title, you should head on over.
Star Wars Battlefront will touch down for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17. We’ll keep you posted on the shooter’s beta just as soon as EA and DICE settle on a date.
