Can you feel it? The excitement in the air? It’s palpable, to be sure. Star Wars fans around the world are giddy with anticipation right about now as they gear up for Celebration Orlando this week, where Disney and Lucasfilm will tease us with everything coming down the pipeline from that galaxy far, far away. And while all eyes will be fixed firmly on the very first trailer for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there’s another property that’s also going to be taking up a fair share of the spotlight.
We’re referring to Star Wars Battlefront II, and while it’s arriving with considerably less hype than the next chapter in the saga, everyone’s still really looking forward to seeing what EA’s come up with for the sequel. First revealed just a few weeks back, Celebration will bring with it the first trailer for the game, which has now unexpectedly leaked out online a little ahead of schedule.
It’s not terribly long, but what we see here is very exciting. For one, we now know that characters like Darth Maul, Rey and Kylo Ren will all feature, while we also get a bit of an idea of some of the combat that we’ll be able to participate in. It’s hard to say exactly when the events of Battlefront II take place, but it appears to be after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, judging by what’s shown here. Again, it’s pretty short and this may actually not be the full version of the trailer, but it’s a tantalizing tease nonetheless and has us eager to learn more about the game at Celebration.
After drafting in assistance from other EA developers – namely Criterion (Burnout) and Motive – DICE is almost ready to officially lift the curtain on Star Wars Battlefront II. It’s due to launch holiday 2017, and you can readily expect full coverage during SWCO later this week. Until then, check out the trailer above and be sure to let us know your thoughts.
