Cal Kestis might be up for another adventure after Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as its director has teased plans for a third and final game.

In an interview with IGN, the director of Jedi: Survivor, Stig Asmussen, discussed how Respawn Entertainment broached the story of the first game with Lucasfilm. He said “breaking this story with Lucasfilm, it’s like: ‘Well, where are we going with the second game?’” The first game in the series Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released back in 2019, so he is talking about Jedi: Survivor here.

He goes on to say, “I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?” Therefore, the assumption is that if Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sells well, most likely as good or better than the original game, we will be getting a third game in the series.

Asmussen also inferred that the third game would be moving past Unreal Engine 4 and that it would probably be built using Unreal Engine 5. So, Respawn Entertainment is most likely going to be making a third Star Wars Jedi game. This is somewhat bittersweet, as a third game would be more than welcome based on the improvements the second game seems to be making. But, it also means that Cal will most likely be making it through Jedi: Survivor, although we will still probably die many times.

They could always make the third game follow a different playable character, as many fans want to play as Merrin the Nightsister. However, it does seem like a safe bet that Cal will live, which might take some of the punch away from Jedi: Survivor’s story. What are they going to do, have him lose a hand? They better not kill BD-1.

The interesting thing about a possible third game is when that game could take place. Jedi: Survivor takes place five years after Jedi: Fallen Order, in 9 BBY. If the third game were to jump another five years into the future, we would be in 4 BBY, the same time period as Andor and Star Wars Rebels. This could make for some interesting appearances from other characters in the Star Wars universe.

There also could be the possibility that a third game could jump even further forward, taking place after Alderaan’s destruction, or even after the death of Darth Vader. The possibilities are somewhat limitless when it comes to Star Wars, but we should know more when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on April 28, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
