‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ gameplay trailer reveals that you can finally live in a digital version of the ‘Star Wars’ world

Live out your galaxy far, far away fantasies in 'Outlaws'

Ubisoft just unveiled a first gameplay look at Star Wars: Outlaws, and it seems that our first open-world action-adventure experience set in the galaxy far, far away is finally going to give us the freedom of exploration that we always wanted.

As you can see above, the gameplay starts by introducing us to Kay Vess, the Outlaws heroine who is being described as a younger version of Han Solo. She finishes a contract and then gets into a gunfight with the local criminals. Kay ultimately joins her robot pal Nix on their ship, whereupon they take off to orbit. There, they fight off Imperial ships until Kay makes a hyperspace jump.

All of this happens seamlessly in real-time, which, at the very least, implies that Outlaws is going to be a vast open-world that you get to explore on the go.

Here you can check out some of the game’s official promo screenshots:

Star Wars: Outlaws takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The story is essentially a great sci-fi heist happening in the Outer Rim, where criminal syndicates run rampant, and even the Empire can’t get a decent grip on the situation.

Lastly, Outlaws is being developed by Massive Entertainment, a Ubisoft subsidiary best known for The Division games. The company is currently focusing its efforts on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, coming out later this year. That means at the earliest, Outlaws is going to release sometime in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.
