Star Wars Pinball Hitting 3DS eShop On September 19th

Nintendo handhelds have been host to a surprising number of great pinball games over the years. Think back to the Game Boy Color and there was the fan and childhood favorite Pokémon Pinball. You could collect all 151! The DS was host to Metroid Prime Pinball, a surprisingly critically acclaimed release for, well, a pinball game. Thought a Nintendo IP, it looks like the 3DS will finally be getting some pinball love in the form of Star Wars Pinball.

Thought not a Nintendo IP, it looks like the 3DS will finally be getting some pinball love in the form of Star Wars Pinball.

The game comes with three tables out of the box, each based on a different Star Wars properties. One is based on The Empire Strikes Back, while another focuses on the events of The Clone Wars. Oddly, the third table isn’t based around a movie but instead, a character – it’s a Boba Fett-themed table. Hey, I wouldn’t even know where to start brainstorming ideas for a pinball game, so you won’t catch me complaining.

The 3DS version will support a number of nifty features, including online leaderboards, special in-game challenges, and even an experience and leveling system that will allow the player to side with the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire over the course of the game.

Of course, the game will also support full stereoscopic 3D, which could have the potential to look very impressive in a game like this. That remains to be seen, but for the $6.99 asking price, it’s not too much of a risk to jump in and take a look. Star Wars Pinball comes to the eShop on September 19th, so brace yourself for some intergalactic flippage in the near future.
