Not wanting to miss out on the biggest shopping day of the year that turns well-behaved humans into frenzied beasts, Valve’s lit the fuse on its own annual Black Friday tie-in event – yes, we’re talking about the Steam Autumn Sale. From today until November 29, the vast majority of games available to buy on the service will be discounted to varying degrees. There’s over 12,000 titles on sale so we can’t list them all, but here’s the current highlights and their discounts.

Today’s Highlighted Deals

  • Just Cause Franchise (66-83% off)
  • Cities Skylines (75% off)
  • Grand Theft Auto Franchise (50-70% off)
  • Civilization Franchise (10-92% off)
  • The Elder Scrolls Franchise (50-72% off)
  • Batman Franchise (50-75% off)
  • Inside (25% off)
  • Battlerite (25% off)
  • Attack on Titan (40% off)
  • ARK: Survival Evolved (50% off)
  • Far Cry Franchise (50-75% off)
  • Grim Dawn (40% off)

As is the case with the similar summer and winter sales, Valve will be rotating the highlighted discounts out for other promotions on a daily basis, so be sure to check the site directly as and when they change. You won’t just be doing your wallet a favor with this year’s sale either – Valve’s aiming to mix things up this time around by way of The Steam Awards 2016.

As per the dedicated page: “For the first time in human history, our Steam Community will decide the nominees for the prestigous Steam Awards. This November you will get to choose nominees for 8 different categories as well as have the opportunity to create your very own award category.”

Said categories probably aren’t exactly what you’d expect, though, with all eight clearly drafted as a bit of fun. Nominating, playing and reviewing at least one game for any of the below awards will net you badges for your Steam account.

  • The “Test of Time” Award
  • The “I’m Not Crying, There’s Something In My Eye” Award
  • The “Just 5 More Minutes” Award
  • The “Whoooaaaaaaa, dude!” Award
  • The “Villain Most In Need Of A Hug” Award
  • The “Game Within A Game” Award
  • The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award
  • The “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” Award
  • The “We Didn’t Think of Everything” Award

Well, there you have it, all that’s left to do is trawl through Steam and start spending. Is there any particular series or big-name title you’re hoping to pick up on the cheap from this year’s autumn sale? Let us know what your wishlists are in the comments below.
