Take A Step Behind-The-Scenes Of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!

Given the success that Gearbox Software's Borderlands franchise has enjoyed since its debut back in 2009, it wasn't shocking to hear that a third game bearing its brand is currently in development. What was surprising, though, was discovering that this new project won't end up being what fans were expecting, that being Borderlands 3. That said, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! still has us very excited, even if it's not exactly what we had in mind for the series' next co-op fuelled outing.

Given the success that Gearbox Software’s Borderlands franchise has enjoyed since its debut back in 2009, it wasn’t shocking to hear that a third game bearing its brand is currently in development. What was surprising, though, was discovering that this new project won’t end up being what fans were expecting, that being Borderlands 3. That said, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! still has us very excited, even if it’s not exactly what we had in mind for the series’ next co-op fuelled outing.

Earlier today, Gearbox and its partners at 2K Australia — who’ve been tasked with co-developing this colourful project — released a very in-depth behind-the-scenes video that does an admirable job of explaining the teams’ thought processes. By watching it, you’ll find out why the decision was made to focus on what happened between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, as well as answers to some other questions that you may currently have. Keep in mind that it’s just the first part of a set, though, and don’t expect all of your questions to be answered this time through. There’s an appreciated amount of information to be grasped from what is a very methodical and well-crafted developer diary, but it’s not all encompassing.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! won’t hit store shelves until October 14th, so we have some time to kill between now and then. To speed up time and make that day come sooner, take a moment to check out our hands-on preview, which is based on the time we spent with the game at this year’s E3 expo.
