After releasing on the Xbox One and PC last February, survival adventure The Flame In The Flood will finally hit the PlayStation 4 later this month. Developer The Molasses Flood, a company comprised of ex-Bungie, Harmonix and Irrational employees, revealed the news earlier today.
Taking place in a version of America that has seen better days, The Flame In The Flood is a lesson in how tough it can be to survive in the wilderness. Working alongside loyal companion Aesop, players will traverse a dangerous, procedurally -generated landscape brimming with features. In order to survive, you’ll need to search for supplies, craft life-saving items and fend off hostile predators.
Exclusive to the PlayStation 4, The Flame In The Flood: Complete Edition comes with content that wasn’t included with the previous release. The newly-recorded Directors’ Cut will offer insight into the development and design of the title, while a new dynamic theme and pair of avatars will be available to mega-fans of the game. Finally, all previous tweaks and updates will be included with this edition, which makes it the definitive version of Scout and Aesop’s adventure.
We may not have reviewed The Molasses Flood’s rogue-like adventure when it launched on Xbox One and Windows PC, but we did offer up a detailed preview of the title prior to release. Additionally, the game notched a spot on our 10 Hidden Gaming Gems of 2016 list, which is a prestigious honor considering some of the other titles that appeared alongside it. Reviews were solid as well, with many publications praising it for its variations on the genre and unique style.
The Flame In The Flood: Complete Edition will bring perilous adventure to the PlayStation 4 on January 17.
