Survive Camp Forest Green In Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp

Here's a Halloween announcement that I can get behind: Gun Media, the team behind the Breach & Clear mobile series, has begun work on a new title called Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp, a "love letter to the classic films of the slasher/splatter era," according to Wes Keltner, founder of the studio. Wanting to pay homage to many people's favorite genre is one thing, but enlisting the help of the people who helped bring them to life is another. Looking to go the extra mile, Gun Media has teamed up with Tom Savini and Harry Manfredini to work on the title.

If you don’t recognize those names, you’ll at least recognize their work. Savini has provided the special make-up effects for many of George A. Romero’s productions, including the seminal Dawn of the Dead, while Manfredini is the man behind the instantly recognizable Friday the 13th theme. If you don’t know what I mean, maybe this will jog your memory: Ch Ch Ch Chhh, Ah Ah Ah Ahh!

Getting back to the game itself, Summer Camp will be a third-person survival horror game set at Camp Forest Green where you’ll either take on the role of a doomed camp counselor or the killer. Summer Camp is looking to be a multiplayer experience, with 6-8 people being able to play as counselors trying to survive the night. Although Gun Media has only done extensive work on mobile platforms, Summer Camp will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC. An official release date has yet to be announced.

Even though there’s still a lot of information not yet available, I’m definitely excited to see how Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp turns out. If the full title didn’t make it clear, this is meant to be the first in a series of games exploring different cliche slasher locales, so if the first entry turns out great, fans will have a lot more to look forward to.

Check out a teaser trailer above and keep an eye open for more news as it’s released!
