Piggybacking off Tecmo Koei’s Tokyo Game Show 2012 software lineup, Team Ninja has announced on Twitter that they will reveal a new console title at this year’s show.

Team Ninja is currently working on Dead or Alive 5, and the Wii U port Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. The only hint that the studio provided about the new game was a reminder that they first announced Dead or Alive 5 at last year’s TGS.

Exactly what that means is anyone’s guess, but I think we can all agree that the best-case scenario for this announcement is anything that is not a Wii U sequel to Metroid: Other M.

Tokyo Game Show runs from Thursday, September 20th through Sunday, September 23rd. As soon as Team Ninja reveals their new project we will let you know.
