Telltale’s The Walking Dead Bites Its Way Into The Playstation Vita’s Library

Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Game games snuck up on everybody and became an absolute critical darling, garnering a considerable amount of awards that included several game of the year awards. While you might say that The Walking Dead brand cancels out the game's indie cred, the gameplay screams otherwise. This isn't a first-person or third-person shooter, it's an old-school point-and-click adventure that's all about the narrative. It wants to evoke some of the darkest emotions out of the player and titles like this usually don't see the success that Telltale has seen. Fortunately, The Walking Dead isn't done infecting consumers through as many platforms as possible, adding the Playstation Vita to its arsenal.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Game snuck up on everybody and became an absolute critical darling, garnering a considerable amount of awards, including several game of the year awards. While you might say that The Walking Dead brand cancels out the game’s indie cred, the gameplay screams otherwise.

This isn’t a first-person or third-person shooter, it’s an old-school point-and-click adventure that’s all about the narrative. It wants to evoke some of the darkest emotions out of the player and titles like this usually don’t see the success that Telltale has seen. Fortunately, The Walking Dead isn’t done infecting consumers through as many platforms as possible as it’s adding the Playstation Vita to its arsenal.

This is undoubtedly an exciting addition to the Vita’s solid library. Don Mesa, Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation (could you possibly have a longer title?), was the one to break the news in an interview with IGN.

He went on to emphasize how important it was to have a successful indie developer like Telltale onboard the Vita train, going on about how exciting the prospect of experiencing The Walking Dead wherever you are could be. My heart goes out to the fellow who plays the last scene of the game trying his damn hardest not to cry on the train — it’s okay, man, let it out, they’ll all understand.

Unfortunately, no release date was provided nor were there any specifics on whether it will be released episodically or in an all-in-one game. Whenever it does come out and assuming you haven’t played it, take my word for it that this is a game you should not sleep on. It’s a deeply emotional, thought-provoking, and even uncomfortable experience that any gamer should seek out.

Will you be picking up The Walking Dead: The Game on the Playstation Vita? Or have you already sold your Vita? Regardless, let us know what you think in the comments below.
