Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 2 Secures December Release

When the credits rolled on the first season of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead series, fans were eager to continue Clementine’s interactive adventure there and then. With the studio also developing the fairy tale-inspired The Wolf Among Us, many believed the next chapter wouldn’t grace our screens until early 2014. Fear not, though, as a recent Steam listing slated The Walking Dead: Season 2 for release on December 17th.

Priced at £18.99 for the full season (or £17.09, if you buy ahead of time), the listing also provided a brief synopsis of the episodic title, which you can check out below:

“Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad – and sometimes worse – than the dead?

“As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.”

Though the Steam listing primarily confirms the game’s PC release date, we understand that the game will raise its reanimated head on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Vita and iOS either on the 17th, or at a later date. Much like its predecessor, the core narrative of The Walking Dead: Season 2 will morph and adapt in response to your in-game decisions.

It’s also worth noting that, if you’ve retained your save file from The Walking Dead: 400 Days — the additional episode that fleshes out the storyline from season one — your moral decisions will weave their way into the 2nd season for better or worse. While Telltale are yet to confirm the aforementioned release date, it seems likely given that Tuesdays are often the days that Microsoft and Sony roll out digital games on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

What do you think, though? Do you believe The Walking Dead: Season Two can maintain the quality and emotional depth of the first six episodes? Let us know below.
