Terraria might have been released for PC back in May of 2011, but console players can finally play the charming adventure title next week.

Gamers who decide to pick up the title will be given the same original content as its PC predeccesor, but will also be gaining additional content that is exclusive to the console versions. A new world map and tutorial level, alternate controls, four-person splitscreen, additional armor and enemies, eight-person online multiplayer, and even a new final boss fight will be making their way into the console version.

PC players have had nearly two years to explore, craft, and adventure their way through the 2D landscape so it will be interesting to see how the title is received by a new group of gamers. If the incredible success of Minecraft’s XBLA port is any indication of what is to come for Terraria, then the developers at Re-Logic have nothing to worry about.

Succeeding on consoles will only prove that gamers have a powerful compulsion to dig. However, I feel that this will only force the inevitable return of Dig Dug. I have a sneaking suspicion that he would be back with a vengeance.

If your fingers are already itching to dig their way into a slew of new adventures then be sure to pick up Terraria next week. The game launches on PlayStation Network March 26th for $14.99, and March 27th for 1200 Microsoft Points on XBLA.
