Eager to explore more of its prestigious Zelda vault, it looks as though Nintendo is quietly working on an HD remake of under-played Wii adventure The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, after a listing for the remaster was spotted on the eShop servers.
Hardly a confirmation, of course, but this telling sign comes mere days after one fan discovered a placeholder icon for Twilight Princess HD in the backend of the Big N’s digital storefront, leading credence to this purported rumor being true.
Originally launched in 2006, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess utilized the console’s motion sensor controls to subtly amplify the experience of exploring the lush rolling hills of Hyrule. At the time, the action-adventure title acted as both a swan song for the GameCube and a debut launch title for the console’s successor, the Wii, and now, almost a decade later, Nintendo appears to be ready to revisit the story of Link and the King of the Twilight.
Should this as-yet-unconfirmed report be true, Twilight Princess HD would join the company’s other modern overhauls including Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and the Wii U’s Wind Waker. Indeed, Nintendo made it crystal clear that it dabbled with the notion of re-releasing both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword for the company’s flagship home console, and we could be about to see the publisher do good on that promise.
Judging by the legitimacy of these sources, an announcement revealing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess appears imminent, but we’ll keep you updated nonetheless.
