Toeing the line between sequel and reboot, the snippet above features a voiceover from Morgan Yu, who narrates the nightmarish scenario as it unfolds. You see, Prey takes place in an alternate timeline, one in which President Kennedy survived the assassination attempt of ’63 and spent his remaining years drumming up interest in the country’s space program. That means that by the time Arkane’s shooter picks up in the year 2032, humanity is an advanced civilization, with Talos I acting as a scientific, yet retro-futuristic hub orbiting the planet.

Enter the TranStar Corporation. Evoking memories of Weyland Yutani for all the wrong reasons, TranStar is a conglomerate then begins conducting “morally dubious experiments” aboard Talos I, eventually leading to the creation of a non-terrestrial race that is as violent as it is terrifying. In space no one can hear you scream, which is just as well because Prey looks to be a truly nerve-shredding experience.

Prey has been scheduled for release across PS4, Xbox One and PC in spring 2017. As Arkane’s upcoming first-person shooter is the current cover star of Game Informer, expect a steady stream of new details to emerge over the coming weeks.
