As if you needed any reassuring that Respawn Entertainment were going to pull out all the stops for Titanfall 2, the studio recently revealed to Develop that the team working away on the sequel to the Xbox One console exclusive is almost 30% larger than the one that worked on the original.

HR & recruiting manager Kristin Christopher told the website that there’s currently 90 people directly involved with the title, the same number that will eventually be working on the studio’s currently unannounced third-person action game.

Christopher said in the interview that:

Respawn is growing from a one game, one team studio to a two game, two team studio. A while back we hired Stig Asmussen – formerly with Sony, where he was director on God of War 3 – to direct a new game for us.

Although we make triple-A games, our teams are on the smaller side compared to other triple-A developers. We had about 70 developers on the original Titanfall and we currently have about 90 working on the sequel. We expect our new team to grow to a similar size.

Respawn haven’t actually officially announced Titanfall 2 just yet, but members of the studio certainly aren’t keeping its existence a secret. The studio’s CEO Vince Zampella told Venture Beat last year that 2016 would be “a very big year for Titanfall.”

Previous reports have also suggested that TitanFall 2 could release within the current financial year but not before October 2016. November or December of this year or early 2017 is looking like the most likely release window then. Respawn have yet to confirm anything specific, but don’t be surprised to see the game formally revealed at or following this year’s E3.
