Well, this is great news! According to Tony Hawk himself, Robomodo‘s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD project will be released onto both Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network sometime next month. Fans of the series and its classic installments can now rejoice.

If you haven’t heard of this project before, let me tell you why it’s one of my most-anticipated releases. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is essentially a remake, but it differs from most. Instead of bringing only one game back from yesteryear, the Unreal Engine is being used to bring high-def visuals to select levels from two of the series’ past triumphs. What that means is it’s essentially a combination of parts of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, remade for today’s powerful consoles. It’s been years since those games were released, but they’re still infinitely replayable, leading me to speculate that this downloadable release will be amazing as well as addicting.

Tony Hawk has been doing his best to help promote a game that he obviously truly believes in. Not only did he personally reveal THPS HD at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards; he also spoke publicly about how he envisions the game as a platform, which will allow for new content updates based on other franchise titles.
