Blue Estate, developer HESAW’s adaptation of the Eisner Award-nominated comic of the same name, will hit the PlayStation 4 this week, and a newly released trailer showcases one of the game’s two playable protagonists.

Tony Luciano, the homicidal son of crime boss Don Luciano, takes center stage in this trailer for the gyroscopic on-rails shooter. Looking to recover his stolen “Helen of Troy,” Luciano will wage war against the Sik gang throughout the Los Angeles area. Although not featured in this trailer, second protagonist Clarence, an ex-Navy Seal, has been hired in order to clean up Luciano’s mess and hopefully end the war between the two sides.

Blue Estate will bring some much needed levity to its genre, and happens to be controlled through the gyroscopic features of the DualShock 4. Aiming is handled by moving the controller around, and since this is an on-rails shooter, movement is performed automatically. Additionally, certain gestures have also been mapped to the controller’s touchpad.

While I have not had the chance to read the Blue Estate comic, I have to say that I’m interested in this game specifically due to its nature as an on-rails shooter. I grew up playing titles such as Time Crisis and Point Blank in arcades, so I’m a sucker for the genre, regardless of its releases’ usual brevity.

Blue Estate will become available in North America later today, but European gamers will have to wait until the 25th before they’ll be able to get their hands on it. Also, while the title will carry a $19.99 price tag, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to purchase it at a reduced rate of $15.99, thanks to a release week promotion.
