Earlier today, Ubisoft released a brand new trailer for its upcoming game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Titled “The Red Dot,” the live-action video depicts a sniper team executing three bad guys, witnessed by an adorable white cat – it’s certainly creative.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a multiplayer-centric tactical shooter; a sequel title in a series spanning over a decade since the release of the first entry back in 2001. Set in a massive Bolivian open world setting and featuring some sublime looking gameplay, it’s received positive preview impressions since its full debut back at E3 2016.
In an interview posted on Ubisoft’s blog, lead game designer, Dominic Butler, shared the developer’s vision for the upcoming title:
“When we finished Ghost Recon Future Soldier, one of the things we wanted to do was look at player choice, player agency… This was the chance to realize a dream we’d had for a long time, which is to really open it up and give the choice back to the players.”
Based on gameplay presentations at E3, it certainly looks as though Ubisoft have managed to create a dynamic game environment here. Unlike the publisher’s other highly popular third-person multiplayer shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Wildlands promises to feature more reactive and unpredictable NPCs and in turn, will require more strategic co-operative tactics by players.
Indeed, Butler went on to say:
“Depending on how the player engages with these factions, their relationships with each other, and with the player, are going to change… It’s something we really encourage, in fact. It’s for the player to manipulate, and play with the toy.”
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is set to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 7th.
