Ubisoft has big plans for its side-scrolling Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles property. In addition to the upcoming China outing, the French publisher revealed that the 2.5D title is the first in a three-part adventure, with the remaining chapters whisking players off to India and Russia.
Each of these adjacent installments will be priced at $10 upon launch, and it is the China iteration that will make its debut first in April, where budding assassins will be thrust into a time when the Ming dynasty is on its last legs. As for the following two chapters, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia will orbit around the Sikh empire and the fallout of the Red October revolution, respectively.
In keeping with the franchise’s time-hopping MO, Ubisoft also noted that each Chronicle will allow players to inhabit a different character, only swapping out the traditional open-world exploration in favor of side-scrolling platforming action. Announcing a fully-fledged trilogy even before the maiden entry has released is no doubt a bold move by the company, but by this point in the game, there’s such an incredible amount of momentum behind the Assassin’s Creed brand that today’s news is hardly surprising.
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China will get the ball rolling on Ubisoft’s latest clandestine outing when it release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 21 in North America. That released will be followed by the aforementioned India and Russia adventures, and you can get an early glimpse of each Chronicle through the gallery below.
