UK PS3 Charts: Helghast Stand Strong

Since the beginning of February we’ve had a wonderfully juicy release calendar with some of the most anticipated games this year, all exploding onto to store shelves around the same time. It wasn’t hard to see that Sony and Guerrilla’s FPS stomper was going to dominate sales on the PS3 around release day and it didn’t disappoint.

As usual, Black Ops is happily making camp at a respectable third place this week (will it ever drop out of the chart completely?) and EA’s new brawler has slid in at second place. Bulletstorm and FIFA have stayed in last week’s positions.

Not surprisingly the top ten list is well populated with PS3 exclusive games (Killzone 3, LBP2, GT5), but more interestingly is how big EA’s piece of the pie is. More recently EA have been harvesting a far wider market than its competitors, with a very impressive line of titles following hot on the heels of each other. As far as gaming politics go, they’re winning my vote at the moment.

Top Ten for the week ended March the 5th (2011..obviously)

01. Killzone 3 (Sony)
02. Fight Night Champion (EA)
03. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
04. FIFA 11 (EA)
05. Bulletstorm (EA)
06. Dead Space 2 (EA Games)
07. LittleBigPlanet (Sony)
08. Gran Turismo 5 (Sony)
09. Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (Capcom)
10. GTA IV: Complete Edition (Rockstar)
