In a year that’s already primed to be dominated by action-packed triple-A releases, it’s reassuring to see that Telltale Games will be on-hand to provide a slower-paced gaming experience in 2017, for the next few months, at least. Having kicked off at the tail end of last year, the studio’s third season of The Walking Dead will continue next month with Episode 3: Above the Law, Telltale has confirmed via press release, which will continue Clementine’s story of survival against the undead horde.
While we’ll have to wait a little while longer for more details on that, Telltale has also announced that a boxed retail disc that provides access to the entirety of Season 3 will go on sale at retailers in North America on February 28, with Europe to follow on March 3. The physical edition will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and comes pre-loaded with the first two season premiere episodes. All subsequent additions to the story will be available to download at no extra cost as and when they become available.
If you’ve yet to rejoin Clementine and her new co-star Javier in Season Three, you can find a taster below.
When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to protect his family, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.
If you’re in the mood for some story-driven gaming but missed the hype the first time around, Telltale wants you to know that Season Three of The Walking Dead is the perfect jumping-off point for newcomers, so there’s no need to spend time revisiting past seasons.
