THQ has released the official beta of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II over Steam today, with an interesting twist on player eligibility. That’s because instead of being open to pre-order customers alone, any customer who has bought a Dawn of War game over the internet through Valve’s popular videogame download service — or anyone who has registered another such purchase on their Steam account — is eligible to get in.

And that’s just the beginning: even if you’re not a current owner of a Dawn of War game, you will also have a limited opportunity to obtain beta keys through online registration on the Dawn of War community website.

Beta access will run from now until midnight on February 24 and every bit of player feedback will be tallied up, and will then be used to compile and implement a player balancing update for release on launch day.
