When is Nicolas Cage coming to ‘Dead by Daylight?’

The multiplayer horror game, Dead by Daylight, is adding a new character to its ranks. The game, which features characters from across the genre of horror, both the good guys, known as survivors, and the bad guys, known as killers, is getting a very famous new face. Fans will soon be able to play as the legend himself, Nicolas Cage, as he joins the roster of survivors.

The asymmetrical multiplayer survival game pits four survivors against one killer. Players who take on the role of the survivor play in a third-person view, whereas the killer is played in first person to allow the player to really get the feel of hunting down their prey. The game has been adding characters from all across the horror genre, with characters from Evil Dead, Halloween, Saw, Resident Evil, and even Attack on Titan made available to choose from, amongst others.

The addition of Cage is one fans are thrilled with, though we wonder, is he playing himself? Or is he playing one of his many characters? The actor spoke at the Summer Game Fest showcase to talk about his role in the game with PC Gamer reporting the actor’s explanation of his gaming persona.

“I play this heightened, exaggerated version of a film actor named Nic Cage, and he’s going to a location thinking he’s making a movie, and instead he wakes up in The Fog. And in The Fog he’s surrounded by crows and serial killers, and it’s rather amusing.”

A recently released clip shows what it might be like to play as Cage in the game.

Believe it or not, this is the first time Cage has acted for a game. The extremely meme-worthy Cage had never been in a game before, something that more and more actors are getting involved in as games become more complex and dramatized. He is thrilled to be involved in Dead by Daylight, explaining:

“Someone very important in my family is a Dead by Daylight enthusiast, and that really put the hook in—hah—pun intended,” said Cage. “See, Dead by Daylight to me was an opportunity to branch out. I’ve never been invited to this space before, and I’m always looking for new adventures, so this to me was, ‘Wow, I can meet a whole new audience and branch out and go on this Dead by Daylight adventure.’ It took me nothing but a split second to say yes.”

He believes that through the game, players that choose to use him will be connected to him, “See, I want you to know when you’re playing the Nic Cage survivor, I want you to know that we’re one, that we’re fused.” This is an offer we know many will want to get on board with, a chance to be Nic Cage, hell yeah!
