The crazy old pinball wizards at Zen Studios have just announced that they have been secretly constructing Star Wars Pinball (a new collection of pinball tables based on the slightly popular Star Wars franchise), which they plan to launch across various platforms later this month.
In total, Star Wars Pinball will contain ten different pinball tables, each of which is themed after iconic moments from both the classic Original Trilogy and the not-as-classic newer stuff. The first triple pack of tables — which launches this month — includes; Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett (Original Trilogy, not the little clone kid), and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Hey, two out of three ain’t bad.
Zen Studios did not announce the themes for the other seven tables, however, they promised that all of them will be revealed over the course of this year.
As is typically the case with all of Zen Studio’s pinball games, each Star Wars Pinball tables will have interactive 3D characters, unique gameplay elements, online global leaderboards, friend challenges, local hotseat, and online multiplayer features.
“It’s been over 30 years since Star Wars, video games, and solid state pinball all burst onto the entertainment scene, and their popularity endures today. We’re excited to be combining all three for the very first time,” said Neil Sorens, Zen Studios’ Creative Director. “Our designers are huge Star Wars fans, and you can expect every detail in every table to reflect their passion for the Star Wars universe.”
Star Wars Pinball will be available as DLC for the following platforms:
• Pinball FX2 on Xbox Live Arcade & Windows 8
• Zen Pinball 2 on PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation Vita, supports Cross Buy
• Zen Pinball 2 on the Mac App Store
• Zen Pinball on the Apple App Store
• Zen Pinball HD Google Play
