You only need to watch House to see how perfect Hugh Laurie would be as J. Jonah Jameson. The grouchy doctor has all the sarcasm and cantankerous qualities that are prerequisites for Spider-Man’s number one persecutor. The same show also demonstrates that the British Laurie can pull off a pretty good American accent. He obviously has his roots in comedy, as well, so you could rely on him to steal the show in a similar way to Simmons.

This one might even be on the cards. A cast list for the upcoming movie was apparently ‘leaked’ online last year, stating that Laurie was allegedly in final negotiations to play the character. It’s most likely that this was just a prank, but even if it was, hopefully it gave Marvel an idea…
