From the opening scene set in ancient Egypt – that calls back to classic film Land of The Pharoahs – to the final moments which will cause many an X-fan to squee with excitement, Bryan Singer’s ninth entry in the franchise is a celebration of the X-Men mythos, as well as a call back to other cinematic influences of the director’s. For instance, Storm watches the Star Trek episode “Who Mourns For Adonais?” at one point, which is about a powerful creature who thinks of himself as a god. Sound familiar?
