Leave it to Leslie Nielsen to completely redefine the meaning of safe sex. Of course, we always support using protection, but in slapstick classic The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, he took it to new extremes. One of the actor’s most iconic roles, Nielsen’s incompetent cop Frank Drebin always was a ladies’ man, but he was always willing to compromise to make sure his conquests stayed comfy. So when his love interest Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) told him in hushed tones that, “I want you to know I practice safe sex,” Drebin was already two steps ahead.
With the perfect mood lighting and romantic music, the two stripped off and sealed the deal… while both encased in full-body prophylactics. It’s a brief scene, but Nielsen and Presley’s devotion to the bit make me crack up every time. The squeaking noises as the two softly rub up against each other just cements this scene’s status as one of Hollywood’s finest.
