7 Burning Questions We Have After Watching Aquaman

Aquaman is now out across the globe and, after seeing him cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and feature as part of the ensemble cast of Justice League, we've finally had the chance to witness Jason Momoa lead his own vehicle as the King of Atlantis. Thankfully, he does a terrific job in the role and overall, the film's a blast and easily one of the most fun and crowd-pleasing entries in the Worlds of DC to date.

Will The Surface World Find Out About Atlantis?

Much like with Themyscira in Wonder Woman, Aquaman introduces us to the mythical land of Atlantis that the human world doesn’t know exists. The seven kingdoms of the sea fear an attack from the surface-dwellers if they even found out about their existence and so they’ve kept themselves a secret throughout history.

In the movie, though, they start to make a – if you’ll pardon the pun – splash. First of all, Aquaman himself is saving folks with his superpowers, causing crackpots on TV to link him to the legends of Atlantis (more on said crackpot later). Not only that, but the final battle between Arthur’s forces and Orm’s was a huge spectacle, as even if humanity has never discovered anything about the underwater worlds before, they surely can’t miss a giant sea creature voiced by Julie Andrews emerging from the ocean.

We wouldn’t be surprised, then, if Aquaman 2 sees the world find out about Atlantis and the other kingdoms. It could happen either by accident or it could be something that Arthur decides to do in order to fulfill his mother’s lifelong wish that the two peoples can be united. No doubt that’ll cause the new king a lot of headaches, but it would make for a strong central mission for the hero in the sequel.
