As “Office” fans begin to brace themselves for Steve Carell’s departure this season, the lead actor is embracing the new projects he is taking on. Recently, Carell became attached to star and produce an adaptation of Dogs of Babel, and was connected to being cast along side Meryl Streep in Great White Springs. Now the soon to be former Office actor is attached to star in Burt Wonderstone.

The project would reunite Carell with Charles McDougall, who has directed multiple episodes of The Office as well as episodes of The Tudors and Parks & Reccreations. He also won an Emmy for the pilot episode of Desperate Housewives. The project was originally set up in 2006 with Jake Kasdan previously attached to direct.

Carell will play a Las Vegas magician dethroned by a young hipster magician. He must then find a way to rediscover his love for magic. Chad Kultgen wrote the the initial script and Horrible Bosses scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein penned the rewrites. Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall.
