This is certainly a turn up for the books, isn’t it?
Danny Trejo, star of Machete, Grindhouse and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, has officially joined the cast of 3 From Hell, the Rob Zombie horror threequel that has spent the past fortnight filling out its ensemble cast with a whole host of familiar faces.
Chief among them are Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding), Bill Moseley (Otis) and Sheri Moon Zombie (Baby), who captured the imagination of horror fans the world over with their performances across both House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Speaking of which, we understand Trejo plans to reprise his role as Rondo from the latter feature, which summoned the Firefly Family into theaters almost a decade ago. Now, they’re on the verge of a comeback.
As for the addition of Danny Trejo, Rob Zombie marked 3 From Hell‘s latest (and potentially greatest?) casting coup with another Instagram post: “Well kids, Rondo aka @officialdannytrejo is back and ready to get crazy in 3 From Hell.”
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Clint Howard will be portraying Mr. Baggy Britches, the second tortured clown of Ruggsville. There’s also room for Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), Dee Wallace (The Howling, Cujo), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Halloween 2), Dot-Marie Jones (American Horror Story) and Tom Papa, who is perhaps best known as El Superbeasto). David Ury, whose last collaboration with Zombie resulted in the Schizo-Head of 31, also stars.
Still no word of a concrete release date, but fans of Rob Zombie’s eccentric oeuvre can go on enjoying updates from the Firefly Family, safe in the knowledge that 3 From Hell is beginning to take shape.
