5 Horror Films Arriving In 2015 That We Can’t Wait For

It would probably be fair to say that pretty much everyone got something out of the horror genre in 2014. For the film buffs and critics there was The Babadook and Willow Creek. For those loving slow-burning chillers there was Under the Skin and The Guest. For those seeking a slice of jet-black comedy with their main course of gore there was Life After Beth and Horns. And for those who harbored schlock Z-movie horror as a guilty pleasure – there was, er, Zombeavers.

Ordinarily, a horror sequel or rehash isn’t necessarily cause for jubilant celebration, especially when the series has gone as far as the Amityville Horror franchise and racked up eleven separate installments. But what makes Amityville number 12 so intriguing is the fact that French filmmaker Franck Khalfoun is behind the camera for it – the man who conjured up the glossy Maniac remake in 2012.

Some may consider the Amityville Horror franchise to be as dead as the ghost that haunts its films, but Khalfoun’s ability to jazz up the 1980 slash picture Maniac proved his capability to breathe some new life into the horror genre. With Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, and Jennifer Jason Leigh all in lead roles, this latest cinematic peek into the Amityville Horror story appears to have every chance.

Strangely, the movie has been abruptly yanked back from its original planned release date of January 2nd, 2015 and is now back sitting in post-production, with rumblings that a new ending may be filmed before the movie is given a fresh distribution date. If you’ve already turned your back on the Amityville Horror saga, the prospect of Khalfoun pulling the strings might be enough of a reason to give it one last shot. And if not that, then just to see how the movie ends up after being pulled so suddenly.
