7 Actors Who Should Play Green Lantern

The words 'Green Lantern' can strike fear into the hearts of those who sat through the travesty that starred Ryan Reynolds just a few short years ago. However, for those of us who have read the comics or even watched the Justice League cartoons as a kid, Green Lantern is one of DC's most exciting and iconic characters. Fortunately, when DC finally decided to compete with Marvel's cinematic universe late last year, their upcoming slate of movies included a brand new Green Lantern film.

6) Brad Pitt – Alan Scott

Maybe an older Green Lantern wouldn’t be such a bad idea though… Considering that we know literally nothing about the movie’s script so far, isn’t it possible that DC would want to avoid the pitfalls of their previous film and try a new approach, one which features the original Golden Age Green Lantern instead?

Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern to appear in the comics and although he may not be the most iconic, the character’s rich history could certainly bring a lot to a cinematic appearance. Such a move could be a gamble on DC’s part though, so the studio may instead consider featuring the older hero as a mentor who trains the younger star of the movie.

Brad Pitt is one of the few A-listers who has still managed to resist the allure of comic book movies, but he would be perfect in the role of Alan Scott, bringing his trademark look and charisma to the part. If Warner Bros. were feeling particularly daring, they could even incorporate aspects of the modern Alan Scott, where the hero has been reimagined as a gay man avenging the death of his boyfriend in the New 52 reboot. Pitt has taken on more adventurous roles in recent years and a part like this would certainly provide him with a memorable take on the superhero genre.
