8 Obscure X-Men Characters We Need To See In Deadpool 2

The original X-Men trilogy and subsequent spin-offs pushed Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to the fore, often at the expense of other potentially more interesting characters, but the success of Deadpool proves that the franchise no longer needs to rely exclusively on recognisable names.

Much is made of the vile abomination that is Deadpool’s face. Even Wade’s best friend Weasel told him that it looks like “Freddy Krueger face-fucked a topographical map of Utah,” encapsulating the popular term #friendshipgoals in one beautiful sentence.

However, ladies and gentlemen, we may have found a potential competitor in the disgusting body horror stakes, one who could even best Deadpool, and her name is Paige Guthrie, or Husk to her friends/enemies/tax collectors.

After her mutant brother Cannonball joined the X-family, Husk discovered that she too had an ability; Paige is able to rip off a layer of her own skin, revealing a new form underneath that can be comprised of any material, from metal or stone to even fire. It’s basically like picking scabs to the extreme, but instead of bleeding and being gross, Husk becomes a kick-ass superhero… who’s still sort of gross.

Husk is one of those rare comic book characters who possesses a unique power that could be played around with by writers willing to experiment. Visually, the effects required to depict Paige’s transformations on screen would also be impressive and given the right script, the team behind Deadpool could have a lot of fun with the character.

Also, she moults skin when stressed and it’s hard to imagine anyone more stressful to fight bad guys with than Wade Wilson, so expect a lot of vomit-inducing scenes if Husk ever makes it to the big screen alongside Deadpool.
