A gruesome body horror that demands to be seen on an empty stomach dissects a secret streaming society

Not advised for anyone who's just eaten.

Only the hardiest of horror fans with the strongest of dispositions would even consider sitting down to watch a gruesome tale of terror as the ideal accompaniment to a meal, but even at that, 2000’s cult favorite Anatomy might be pushing things ever so slightly.

The highest-grossing release of the year at the German box office when it first hit theaters, the conspiracy thriller wrapped in the blood and guts of a nightmarish body horror may not have fared too well with critics, but the fact it’s been making the rounds on streaming more than two decades after its arrival certainly indicates that legacy status has been secured.

Per FlixPatrol, writer and director Stefan Ruzowitzky’s stomach-churning tale has come out of hiding to stake out a spot on the iTunes worldwide watch-list, and we can only hope that nobody decides to view it for the first time during breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even elevenses if we’re being perfectly honest.

Franka Potente stars as an ambitious medical student who gets selected as a participant in an anatomy course taught by a legendary professor that everybody wants to be a part of, leaving her naturally delighted that her skills have been recognized.

This being a horror movie, of course, her fanaticism soon turns to outright fear when she’s confronted with somebody she’d just met lying on the dissection table, which soon spirals into revelations of a secret society living in the shadows for hundreds of years “famed” for conducting experiments on live subjects.
