This weekend we can expect to see a variety of things: tears, long winded speeches, awkward presenter jokes and some naff dancing and singing segments. Yes this year’s Academy Awards are upon us and many have predicted already how the awards will pan out. So I’m about to throw my ore in and tell you who will win out of the nominees, or at least who I think will win. Bearing in mind these have changed since the nominations were announced. Here they are my predictions below with the possible upsets in some categories:

Best Picture
WINNER: The King’s Speech
UPSET: The Social Network

Best Director:
WINNER: David Fincher – The Social Network
UPSET: Tom Hooper – The King’s Speech

Best Actor in a Leading Role:
WINNER: Colin Firth – The King’s Speech

Best Actress in a Leading Role:
WINNER: Natalie Portman – Black Swan
UPSET: Annette Bening – The Kids Are All Right

Best Actor in a Supporting Role:
WINNER: Christian Bale – The Fighter
UPSET: Geoffrey Rush – The King’s Speech

Best Actress in a Supporting Role:
